Puglia is on the map! Our beautiful region has quickly become a favourite “go-to” for travelers of every nationality. The beautiful sceneries, beaches, hills, villages and culinary tradition constitute sought-after attractions.

The property is strategically located to be a perfect hub to visit the multitude of attractions that Puglia has to offer. So, what to visit?! Some suggestions below!

a beatiful land

Villages

you’ll have to pick your battles, as there are many places worth a stop. Our suggestion is to park the car at the entrance of the old cities, and walk around to get lost in the maze of small streets you will encounter. If you plan to dine, make sure to book in advance, particularly in high season (Jul-Aug).

Ostuni
“the White City” is only a few km away. In less than 10′ you’ll be overlooking the Adriatic from a hilly village that would make for a perfect postcard. Small streets will merge in beautiful piazzas.
Cisternino
considered by many of the most picturesque villages in Italy, Cisternino is a little gem. Take a nice stroll on the promenade overlooking the valley. Like Ostuni, it’s also a short 10′ drive from Lamia del Bosco.
Locorotondo
our personal favourite, this village is increasingly becoming a destination. The beautiful promenade will offer you unparalleled views. The old town is circle-shaped, giving the name to the village (Locorotondo means, in fact, “round place”). 25′ away from Lamia del Bosco.
Ceglie Messapica
possibly the less touristic of the list, but worth a visit! Also ~10′ drive from the property.
Monopoli
if you feel like having a stroll or dinner by the sea, Monopoli is the place to be. Restaurants will largely serve fresh fish from the nearby port, and you can still enjoy the vibrancy of Apulian lifestyle.
Martina Franca
about 25′ from the property (and what a beautiful drive!) Martina is perhaps the most elegant of the nearby villages. Its large main square is filled with small bars and restaurants.

Alberobello
probably the more touristic of our hamlets, Alberobello is a Unesco world heritage site. You will see more trulli than you ever imagined, at once! 45′ drive from Lamia del Bosco.
Polignano
if you were drawn to Puglia, chances are you saw a picture of Polignano. Nestled on a cliff, this village will be the perfect place to take pictures you will cherish for life. Your friends will be jealous! The drive is ~40-45′, but worth it.
Grottaglie
if you are looking for some gorgeous ceramics to bring back home, you should explore the Ceramic Quarter here. Many of the decorative objects in Lamia del Bosco come straight from here!
Matera
a bit further away (1.5 hr drive, and technically not in Puglia!) Matera is a one-of-a-kind city. It features a complex of cave dwellings. Ask James Bond!
Lecce
the largest city in Southern Puglia (“Salento”), Lecce has wonderful churches and art. If you are into it, it will be worth the ~1hr drive.

white beaches and clear sea

Beaches

Depending on the wind, you could opt for the closer Adriatic beaches, or for the blue waters of the Ionian sea

Torre Canne (20′ drive)
these sandy beaches are easy to reach and particularly good when wind is not strong or comes from south/south west.
Torre Guaceto (25′ drive)
is a natural reserve, with dunes overlooking the clear waters. You will need to take a (free) 2′ minibus ride once you park.
Capitolo (30-35′ drive)
for those of you you like comfort, the beach of Capitolo offers a multitude of “Lidi”, for all budgets. Many of them will have restaurants, facilities etc. – but they can get pricey!

Monopoli (35′ drive)
if you are a lover of rocky beaches, the waters of Monopoli are wonderful. You can find both free beaches and “Lidi”.
Salento
if you feel like driving longer, Torre dell’Orso (50′ drive) and Otranto (80′ drive) are also wonderful.
Marina di Pulsano and Gandoli (45′-60′ drive)
if the Adriatic is wavy… well, you can always go the other way! The Ionian beaches are amongst the best in Italy.
